Hon. Colonial Secretary,

ALFRED WILLIAMS ENCRASED The widow of this man, who was a Government School master, has applied to me for advice as to how she can obtain possession of £30 £4.10.0 % Var Stock 1925-1945, which is, apparently, only transferable by personal application at the Bank of England.

In the ordinary course the widow would have to appoint an attorney in England to take out Letters of Adminis- tration and then deal with the stock, but it occurs to me that, seeing that she knows no one in England and that the deceased's only estate is this #30, the Colonial Office might be asked to approach the Bank of England with a view to its accepting a transfer signed by me, coupled with a guarantee against loss given by this Goverment to the Bank, If the Bank agree the Crown Agents could sell the stock and remit the net proceeds to the Colonial Treasurer.

I attach the following documents which should be sent to the Colonial Office if you can see your way to move in the matter:-

1.

2.

Receipts for $20 and £10, £4.10.0 % Tar Stock 1925-1945 Transfer signed by me as Official Administrator.

3.

Letter from the Hongkong & Shanghai Bank herein,

4.

Affidavit of Mra. Williams.

B.

Certified copy of her marriage certificate.

Registrar of Supreme

Court.
